We got invited out to see a friend play an acoustic show at 317 BBQ in Broad Ripple. Parking on a Friday night in that part of town is ridiculous honestly. We paid to park about 2 blocks away. They do have their own parking lot but it was full.
Once we got in the outdoor space, I realized that it was a covered patio with garage doors that open. I spotted my friend and headed over to the table. It was fairly warm but not unbearable in there. I ordered a róse. Then it was time for the important stuff, the food.
I definitely wanted appetizers so we decided on the deviled eggs( Pickle juice, Sriracha, chive, bourbon-maple bacon jam, smoked paprika )and the bean crock served with Ruffles. I was the only one that wanted the bean crock but it was so good. I’m glad that I ordered it. The deviled eggs were good too. The bourbon maple bacon jam was what made them.
They have different meats and options for the dinner. I wanted to try the brisket and the chicken(half). For sides I did the green beans and potato salad. My husband ordered a sausage(house made jalapeño cheddar beef sausage) and the Gandy Dog. They call it the pit masters snack. It’s a smoked sausage wrapped in a tortilla with yellow mustard. He chose Mac and cheese as a side. I didn’t try that but the Gandy dog was simple but outstanding. I wanted my own.
The brisket was juicy and tender, sliced just the way I like it. Green beans had good flavor and potato salad was solid. The buttermilk biscuits that we ordered had a black pepper honey butter which was something I’d never eaten but would happily do so again. One of the best things on the plates were the house made pickles. I love pickles and these did not disappoint.
We finished up the dinner with banana pudding. Whenever it’s on the menu it’s always something we order. I was too full to fully enjoy it but did have a small bite. I wish I had taken it home and refrigerated it to be super cold. I bet it would have been wonderful but the heat and all the food was making it impossible.
So to sum up 317 BBQ I’d say eat inside to be able to enjoy the food. It’s a personal opinion but I wish we would have. Things would definitely bring me back such as the pickles, bean crock, and the biscuits.
Let me know if you’ve eaten here and if you’d visit again for the pickles . Until my next meal grab a fork and a knife and get eating……
