Smash Burgers and a Bit of Nostalgia

Quick lunch stop at Working Man’s Friend. This is the first time I’ve eaten in the restaurant. I picked a great time (about 2pm). The place wasn’t the least bit crowded. I ordered chili(first time) with onions. There is the option for cheese also and spaghetti. I did the double cheeseburger with no middle bun and the seasoned fries. She brought my canned coke and a cup of ice. For some reason it reminded me of being younger and visiting the VFW/American Legion with my father. They had those small glasses and canned coke.

My chili came and it was not at all spicy but had great flavor. I loved the addition of raw onions. There were beans and chunks of hamburger.  I quickly finished the bowl. Once again very nostalgic. My burger arrived shortly after with pickle and onion. The fries were well seasoned and the smash burger was crispy on the edges and the cheese completely melted.

If you like old school classics this is the place.  Just a reminder, it is a bar so 21+ and they only take cash.  They have a bar for drinks. Take out is also available. Go early or late because on a normal day it’s slammed. They stop serving at 2:45 pm.

I’ll be back when I get another craving for nostalgia.
